Sell-A-Band turns music fans into investors
Web site turns music fans into investors
“About 600 singers and bands listed on Sellaband have raised $150,000 from 3,000 investors since the site launched on Aug. 15. Fans are allowed to withdraw their investment or move it to another artist any time before a group reaches the $50,000 mark.
All funds are held in escrow until the threshold is reached, and the interest generated from the accounts goes to Sellaband.
Recording veterans have signed up to work with Sellaband because they think it can fill a void left by the industry consolidation that is siphoning profits back to parent companies instead of using them to develop up-and-coming talent.”

Spent the weekend at 42nd Street Studios with my bestest pal Marc Loren of Landmark Productions fame and fortune tracking the new Lee’s Day album.
DP5 ran like a champ on Marc’s G5 and we put a bunch of his new toys to good use…
The pair of 414’s way up in the air through his UA 2-610 were particularly god-like on the drums.

A great CD recorded in Digital Performer
Check out this fantastic new CD by Rob “Blastula22222″ Laufer – a regular MOTU-MAC / Unicornation contributor.
It was produced nearly entirely in DP and showcases Rob’s incredible songwriting / lyrical chops and production skill. Note, Rob’s track “In The Frame” is used in HP’s critically acclaimed “picture frame” television ad campaign.
Here’s what Rob had to say about it: “My new CD was recorded and mixed entirely in DP (except for tracks 5, 6 , 7 & 11). It was mastered at Capitol by Mark Chalecki.”
